Christmas songs are not just for Christmas — as anyone in film and TV knows, most festive scenes are shot in the height of summer. Our Christmas collection spans a wonderfully wide seasonal spectrum: from vintage classics and Phil Spector-style wall-of-sound gems to contemporary favourites, public-domain standards, and beautifully crafted new covers.
We open the season with a true treasure from the Morrison catalogue, the 1943 recording “The Bells at Christmas,” before leaping into the 1980s with “We Call It Christmas,” a nostalgic festive tune that retells the Christmas story against an unmistakably 80s backdrop. For lighter moments, there’s plenty of seasonal fun too — including “A Melataun Christmas,” a tongue-in-cheek letter to Santa where the only gift requested is beer.
And from the inventors of Christmas markets themselves, we feature a selection of charming vintage German festive songs.
